Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Forms for Pawnshops ("fillable" version)

The downloaded PDF forms from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas website do not have the "editable" or "fillable" boxes. Meaning, you have to print out the forms, then fill-in the information by going retro. As in the previous year, you once again need to dust off your ancestral typewriter. Admit it, at the back of your mind, how you wish, the Bangko Sentral, with all the money in their hands, will post fillable versions of their forms in the future. For the good of our tax-paying citizens, how I wish too, that it is so!

Fortunately, I'm in a patriotic mood at the moment. So, let me share some of these fillable versions which I converted one sleepless night. I'm sure this will save many of you some valuable hair and time.

Partial List of BSP Fillable Forms

Entity Information
Statement of Condition
Statement of Income and Expenses
Personal Data Sheet

If you are new to fillable PDFs, here are a few loving instructions to guide you.

PDF reader

Unless you're a cave-dweller (as many pawnbrokers figuratively are, it seems), you might already be aware that you can't view everything using Microsoft Word. What you need is a special reader to view PDF files. There are lots of these tools in cyberspace, but one can do no wrong with the Adobe Reader. Download the latest version from the Adobe website.

Data entry

To be able to see the "fillable" or "fill-in" fields, select 'Highlight Fields' button near the top right of the Adobe Reader. Click the highlighted fields, and start entering the required data. You can navigate to the next or previous field using [Tab] or [Shift-Tab], respectively. However, no doubt it's more convenient to use the mouse to point and click the fields you want to edit.

I took the liberty to pre-format some boxes like center-justify where it's needed. In entering the peso amounts, you don't need to type the comma separator. It will be magically formatted for you. Note also that in some forms, the amounts do not have trailing ".00" when a particular form specifically instructed to round off the figures to the nearest peso. Actually, not bad, saving toner means saving trees.

Printing

You can print immediately the filled-in form after you enter the necessary data. Then, after a successful print-out, you can now go on with your life. But if you want to save the entered data for posterity, you may read the remaining instructions.

Saving the filled-in form

At this time, I assume that you have read the Adobe Reader notice, warning you that you can not save your edits. Of course, you don't have to believe that. If you happen to have a "PDF-creating" printer driver already installed, congratulations; you are becoming geekier than most of us.

If you're not that lucky, don't fret. It's not the end of the world. You can download an excellent free software from the site listed below. Installing it only takes a few minutes.

After a successful driver installation, print the edited document to your PDF-creating "virtual printer". In this example, the printer name is PrimoPDF.

When you are done going through the motions like entering document filename, clicking buttons, and drinking coffee (optional), you now have a "saved" copy of your edited document.

Open, view or print your "saved" document using Adobe Reader. Note that the "saved" document is not editable, nor fillable anymore.

Mission accomplished. You are ready to submit your filled-up form and impress the Bangko Sentral.
